Who does the Accidental Alien love today?
Today, I love Alex Wagner, host of Now, which airs weekdays at noon on MSNBC.
I first wrote about Ms. Wagner in the winter of 2011, when she was, as the White House correspondent for Politics Daily, an occasional commentator on MSNBC’s “news” shows. I found her to be intelligent, articulate, passionate, good-natured and a little bit shy for TV, which made her endearing. Oh, yes, and she was stunningly attractive too. I could not believe that she was not an Internet sensation.
But now she is. She eventually moved on to The Huffington Post, became a regular MSNBC contributor, and then relatively swiftly got her own show on that network. Now is a political roundtable for the smart, sharp, young and hip, like Ms. Wagner herself. And, oh dear, is she easy on the eyes! I’m sure this fact had nothing to do with her getting her own TV show.
In all seriousness, I wish Alex Wagner success and I think more level-headed and analytical people like her should host television news shows.

In the annals of red-headed women (Bruce Springsteen be thanked), no one but no one beats Michigan native Gillian Anderson as Special Agent Dana Scully from The X Files. All days I love Dana Scully. Anderson is a fine actor, portraying an intellectually drop-dead gorgeous woman of strength, authority, intellect, reason, humor, compassion and healthy skepticism. And her character is named after Vin Scully to boot! What’s NOT to love?
And, okay, I guess I love Fox Mulder too.
